Mother’s Day Jewelry Gift Ideas For All Kinds of Moms
Mother’s Day is just around the corner on Sunday, May 8, but you still have some time to spare if you haven’t gotten that perfect gift yet.
The truth is, even if you had all the time in world, finding the perfect Mother’s Day gift can be hard. However, jewelry is for the most part a safe (and almost always successful) gift idea, so why not present your loved ones with some new bling? If the mom in your life is the sentimental type, why not get her a personalized name necklace. Or even something that features the birthstone of her children.
If she’s into diamonds, diamond stud earrings are a staple and a good addition to any woman’s wardrobe. Wanna go with a simple heart? Then get her a heart-shaped pendant. If she’s more a simple woman, a pair of hoop earrings are classic and go with almost every look. If she’s fashion-forward and always keeping up with the latest trends, we’ve got suggestions for that too.
A jewelry gift is always a thoughtful way to say you care about someone and after opening the jewelry box. Vanity Fair described it perfectly: “Something that she’ll cherish for years to come, jewelry is a timeless way to relay your affection while showing your appreciation for all the maternal figures in your life.”
A lot of people happen to be shopping this year for Mother’s Day. Spending for the holiday is expected to reach $31.7 billion this year, up 13 percent from 2021, according to the annual consumer survey released by the National Retail Federation (NRF) and Prosper Insights & Analytics. Roughly 84 percent of adults in the US are expected to celebrate Mother’s Day and the average spending for a consumer is estimated to be $245.76, up 11 percent from 2021 and up 25 percent from 2019.
“Consumers are eager to find memorable ways to honor their mothers and other important women in their lives and are willing to spend a little extra on this sentimental holiday,” said Matthew Shay, president and CEO of NRF, told Forbes.
According to the consumer survey, the most important part about buying a gift for Mother’s Day is finding a present that is unique or different (46 percent) and finding something that creates a special memory (41 percent). Meanwhile, jewelry purchases (along with special outings such as dinner) has hit a record in the survey’s history for average spending.
“Jewelry remains a timeless gift selection for Mother’s Day and continues to capture an increasing market share,” said Prosper Vice President of Strategy Phil Rist. “Forty-one percent of consumers are planning to gift jewelry this year, up from 34 percent in 2021. Total spending on jewelry is expected to reach $7.0 billion.”
The publication added that nearly 40 percent of moms said they plan on buying Mother’s Day gifts for themselves, with clothing, jewelry, and beauty being among the top items that they’re purchasing.
