Does Ariana Grande’s Engagement Ring Pay Tribute to Her Late Grandfather?
Ariana Granda is officially engaged, and her engagement ring may feature a family heirloom.
The 27-year-old “Positions” singer announced on Sunday her engagement to real estate agent Dalton Gomez with a series of photos in a post on Instagram that she captioned “Forever n then some.” The post included pictures of her oval diamond engagement ring that features a pearl, and experts estimate that it costs around six figures.

Fans noticed that the pearl in Grande’s new ring looks very similar to one included in a ring that was given to her by her grandmother in 2014.
Grande’s grandfather Frank Grande passed away in 2014. A few months later, Grande posted a photo on Twitter of a ring that her grandmother designed for her and wrote in the caption, “Nonna had a ring made for me w/ the pearl from grandpa’s tie pin. She says he told her in a dream it’d protect me <3.”
The singer, who was previously engaged to “Saturday Night Live” cast member Pete Davidson, has not confirmed or denied the fan theory, but it does appear like the same pearl was reset in her new engagement ring from Gomez, 25.
If the fan theory is indeed correct, then both Grande and her grandmother have a tribute to her grandfather. The singer’s “nonna,” Marjorie Grande, accompanied her to a tattoo parlor in 2018 and got “Ciccio” (the Italian nickname for her late husband) tattooed on her finger.
Regardless of the pearl’s origin, Grande’s family is ecstatic about her engagement to Dalton. “I am so excited to welcome Dalton Gomez into our family!” wrote Grande’s mother, Joan Grande. “Ariana, I love you and Dalton so much!!!! Here’s to happily ever after! YAY! xoxoxo”
Diamond experts previously told Page Six Style that the Grande’s diamond and pearl engagement ring appears to feature a 5- or 6-carat oval diamond next to a pearl on a thin platinum band. The diamond engagement ring is estimated to cost around $200-300k.
Jewelry expert Andrew Brown also believes Grande’s ring is in the six-figure ballpark.
“This beautiful engagement ring looks to be an elongated 5-carat oval diamond, set at an angle and accented with a pearl,” Brown told Page Six. “Assuming a high color and clarity combination, a custom ring such as this would retail around $150,000-$200,000.”
Dalton and Grande announced their relationship on Instagram in June, mere hours before her 27th birthday. She posted a series of photos and videos that included a shot with Gomez, her dogs and best friend Doug Middlebrook, and captioned them, “almost 27 :)”
The couple, who have been quarantining together, did not confirm their relationship until May 8 when Grande and Justin Bieber released their music video for “Stuck With U.” The video’s final moments show the singer hugging, kissing and dancing with Gomez. Dalton was also featured in Instagram promotional clips for Grande’s collaboration with Lady Gaga, “Rain on Me.”
Grande called off her engagement to Davidson in October 2018. Before the actor, she dated Graham Phillips, singers Jai Brooks and Nathan Sykes, her backup dancer Ricky Alvarez, and rappers Big Sean and Mac Miller.
