An Affordable Engagement Ring Option Inspired by Actress Emma Stone’s New Bling

But not to fear! Actress Emma Stone came to our rescue with her new engagement ring that is —get ready — affordable! We always love it when we can bag a great piece of jewelry without breaking the bank, so we got all the details about the “The Favourite” actress and her new bling.

The Academy Award–winning actress, 31, and Saturday Night Live writer and director Dave McCary have reportedly been dating since the summer of 2017 and made their official public debut as a couple when attending the Fox Golden Globes afterparty at The Beverly Hilton Hotel on January 6, 2019. They announced their engagement just last week, on Dec. 4, on Instagram, while showing off an up-close shot of Stone’s ring. She debuted her engagement ring out in public soon after.

The couple was photographed in New York over the weekend, stepping out for the Saturday Night Live after-party. They were pictured holding hands, and Stone’s pearl engagement ring was on full display. It features an eight-millimeter Akoya untreated pearl at its center, surrounded by 0.37 carats of supporting diamonds along the band and around the pearl. The ring’s band is 18-karat beige gold band.

The “Winter Pearl Ring,” as its officially called by the jewelry company that created it, costs only $4,780!

Details about it are listed in its official description, found online: “Straight from the Tokyo workshop of master jeweler Yoshinobu Kataoka, the Winter Pearl Ring is a work of staggering beauty. A lustrous pearl is surrounded by Kataoka’s signature snowflake motif.”

Pearl engagement rings are not the most common, and this one is even more special because of the beautiful detail work and snowflake motif (which makes it also perfect for a winter proposal). Several jewelry experts have commented on its antique and vintage influences.

“A vintage style ring like Emma Stone’s is trending right now as it offers a truly one-in-a-kind option,” said Toni Zehrer, a chief merchandising officer at leading jewelry stores. “We’re seeing that many brides are seeking unique ring designs, opting for their ‘something old’ to be their engagement ring.”

Few people consider pearls when they think of alternative engagement ring stones but actually, pearls can definitely rival the classic appeal of a diamond. Whether they’re the classic round type or the uneven freshwater kind, pearls are timeless, classic, never go out of style, have a certain elegant to them and really go with everything.

Western cultures also associate the color white with innocence and purity and for that reason, many times white pearls are given as a wedding gift from the groom to the bride, or from the bride’s parents to her, in the form of pearl earrings, a pearl necklace or pearl bracelets.

Stone isn’t alone in choosing an unconventional engagement ring design, according to jewelry expert Kathryn Money, who talked to Page Six about non-diamond center stones gaining popularity among couples and new brides. She told the publication, “Gemstone engagement rings are a distinctive choice that has remained popular among couples and celebrities. Kate Middleton, Penelope Cruz and Jessica Simpson all sport engagement rings featuring gemstones. A recent study found that one in five adults would prefer an engagement ring featuring a sapphire or other colored gemstone.”

All fashion icons — including Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe, Dorothy Parker and Princess Diana — have been seen or photographed wearing pearls or owning collection of pearl jewelry, such as Elizabeth Taylor, a major fan of pearls.
